BETHEL LAUNCHES HOMETOWN HEROES BANNER PROGRAM TO HONOR LOCAL VETERANS AND ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS

Bethel, CT - The Town of Bethel, in partnership with the Bethel Patriotic Association, is proud to introduce the inaugural Hometown Heroes Banner Program. This new initiative is set to honor and celebrate local members of the Armed Forces, both past and present, with the display of commemorative banners along School Street in front of the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center.

The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is designed to recognize and pay tribute to active duty and veteran service members from Bethel. Each banner will feature the honoree’s name, rank, branch of service, era of service, and a photo, along with optional donor information. These banners will be prominently displayed on town-owned lampposts, offering a visual reminder of the service and sacrifice of these heroes.

“We are excited to launch this program as a meaningful way to honor our local heroes,” said First Selectman Dan Carter. “This initiative not only celebrates their dedication but also brings our community together in recognizing the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving our nation.”

The banners will be digitally printed on 18” x 36” double-sided 18 oz. blockout scrim vinyl, ensuring durability and visibility. They will be displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day each year, after which they will be removed and stored for the winter. Banners will be available for $140 for one year or $200 for two years, with the option for donors to request the return of their banners after the display period.

Applications for the banners are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with only 46 display locations available. All orders must be received by March 1st to ensure installation by Memorial Day. Interested parties can download the application form from www.bethelhometownheroes.org or visit the First Selectman’s Office at the Bethel Town Hall.

“We hope this program not only honors our veterans but also fosters a greater sense of community pride,” added First Selectman Dan Carter. “It’s a way for everyone to come together and show appreciation for the sacrifices made by our local heroes.”
